Jim and his wife Barbara, after raising four children during his military career, settled in Atlanta in 1999 where Jim first joined NDC Health as Director of Strategic Planning and then headed up Rochester Associates’ South Atlanta operation. During these initial seven years Jim and Barbara grew to love the Greater Atlanta area and committed to staying here and becoming more involved in their broader community.
Behind the scenes Jim supported Barbara’s programs in the community including Diaper Day, collecting diapers for less fortunate families who daily decide between food and diapers, Operation Warmth, providing hats, gloves and coats for the elementary school children in cobb County, and distributing US Constitution to fifth graders in Cobb County schools.
Jim’s family in the Mableton area includes his son, Sean and wife, Cecilia, and their children William and Harrison, and Ryan (unmarried) and Kyle (unmarried). Jim’s daughter, Mary and husband, Ryan, and their children, Michael and Emily reside in San Antonio, Texas.
In 2007 Jim joined a global engineering firm, Parsons Brinckerhoff, which had designed and managed the construction of MARTA for decades, and the firm set his talents to directing big programs in South Korea, the World Trade Center site, Taiwan, and Ottawa. Jim’s innate ability to work with diverse teams of people and his sensitivity to local stakeholder concerns were traits that underlay his success in the private sector. While globe-trotting for several years Jim kept his roots in Mableton and after leaving PB is ready to tackle a new challenge your Representative for HD 39.
